For MLB, all marketplaces with the exception of GoTickets and Automatiq B2B have opted into barcode integration for this upcoming season. Marketplaces are now required to ensure that tickets sold through their platform go through a barcode verification process at the time of sale. They do this to guarantee that the tickets provided to the buyer are legitimate and/or eligible for resale.
As a result, there are various changes surrounding selling MLB tickets through Lysted.
The New Barcode Standard
To prevent "locked" barcodes—which often lead to stuck transfers and costly cancellations—Lysted now defaults to a protective delay:
Standard Protocol: Barcodes are held and not sent to marketplaces until the time of sale.
The Goal: This minimizes the window for technical errors or marketplace locks that prevent you from managing your inventory.
Using the +barcode[sh] Override
If the event is within 24 hours, in order for your MLB tickets to list to Stubhub, they require that your listing have the barcodes attached/exposed on the listing, in order to do this you can use a specific internal note:
Action: Add +barcode[sh] to the internal notes of your listing.
The Risk: By using this tag, you are bypassing the protective delay. If the barcodes become locked or the order cannot be fulfilled because they were sent early, you (the seller) assume full responsibility.
Penalties: Any financial penalties or cancellation fees assessed by the marketplace in these instances will be passed directly to your account.
Note: If you choose to fulfill your order via transferless delivery, you must list exclusively on GoTickets. Since Automatiq's B2B operates as a broker-to-broker exchange, any tickets fulfilled there should be considered as delivered to an integrated marketplace and MUST be resale eligible.
What this means for you
In order to sell your MLB tickets through Lysted, you first need to verify that the forward option is available in your account and/or your tickets have a barcode number located in the account manager. You should be able to view the barcodes in your account manager by clicking on the tickets/ticket details.
You can refer to your purchase confirmation to verify if your tickets are transfer/resale restricted. This information can sometimes be hidden in the fine print of your purchase confirmation, so we recommend double-checking by contacting the team for confirmation.
Important disclosures
Any SRO, group sales, student tickets, discounted tickets, etc will not be validated in the integration process and will lead to cancelled orders + additional penalties.
Note: Although Automatiq's B2B allows direct transfer for fulfillment, your tickets must be resale eligible per their sellers handbook. If your tickets are resale ineligible you will need to exclude your listing from their site by adding NOAUTO to the internal notes section of your listing.
Your tickets posted through Lysted must align exactly with how they appear in your account - For example, if your tickets are located in section SEC10, they must be listed as "SEC10" and not "10" or "SECTION 10".
Masking your rows/seats is not permitted - If you mask your seats in any way, the barcode validation attempt will fail. For example: if you relayed to the marketplace you had row 10 and are providing barcodes for row 9, the order will not be able to be fulfilled.
Tickets cannot be fulfilled through direct transfer/transferless delivery - Since marketplaces are requiring barcode numbers in order to fulfill their orders, they will not be accepting alternative delivery methods. If you cannot deliver your tickets through barcode delivery, they cannot be sold on barcode-integrated marketplaces.
SRO tickets cannot be sold through Lysted - Due to the inconsistency around transferability and restrictions imposed by the teams, we will not be allowing SRO tickets to be sold for the current MLB season.
Offsite parking and Third Party Parking passes - NO offsite parking is allowed to sell on any barcode integrated exchange (i.e. ParkWhiz). If they do, the marketplace will not accept the PDFs due to their agreement with the MLB and the order will be canceled with penalties.
Group sales/discounted tickets are not permitted - Due to a pattern of these tickets being restricted from resale, any group buys or discounted tickets are not to be sold through our platform and you will incur penalties for all orders that break.
Secondary market purchases - Any secondary market purchases from a non-barcode integrated site, we DO NOT recommend listing these on barcode integrated sties. This is because there is no way to guarantee these tickets are resale eligible since they were not purchased off the primary and did not go through a barcode verification to complete your purchase.
If you would like to mask your seats, sell third party parking passes, or if you are not comfortable providing your account credentials, we understand, but you will need to post your tickets exclusively on transfer-enabled sites (GoTickets and Automatiq's B2B) by adding +go +auto in the internal notes field within your Lysted inventory tab. If you post tickets in violation of these policies, your account will be put up for review with our compliance department.
