Listing MLB Tickets

What you need to know about barcode requirements, listing accuracy, and restricted ticket types before posting MLB inventory

Written by Ari Levi

All marketplaces — with the exception of GoTickets, Automatiq B2B, SeatGeek, and Ticket Network — require barcode integration to fulfill MLB ticket sales. These marketplaces run barcodes through a verification process at the time of sale to confirm tickets are legitimate and eligible for resale.

This article covers what you need to know before listing MLB tickets through Lysted.

The Barcode Standard

To prevent locked barcodes — which often lead to stuck transfers and costly cancellations — Lysted defaults to a protective delay: barcodes are held and not sent to marketplaces until the time of sale. This minimizes the window for technical errors or marketplace locks that prevent you from managing your inventory.

Using the +barcode[sh] Override

If the event is within 24 hours, StubHub requires that barcodes be attached and exposed on the listing. To do this, add +barcode[sh] to the internal notes of your listing.

Important: Using this override bypasses the protective delay. If the barcodes become locked or the order cannot be fulfilled because they were sent early, you (the seller) assume full responsibility. Any financial penalties or cancellation fees will be passed directly to your account.

What This Means for You

Before listing, verify that the transfer/forward option is available in your account and that barcode numbers are visible in your account manager. You can view barcodes by clicking on the tickets or ticket details in your account.

You can also refer to your purchase confirmation to check whether your tickets are transfer or resale restricted. This information can sometimes be in the fine print, so if you're unsure, contact our support team for confirmation.

Important Disclosures

SROs, group sales, student tickets, and discounted tickets will not be validated in the barcode integration process and will result in cancelled orders and additional penalties.

Automatiq B2B note: Although Automatiq B2B allows direct transfer for fulfillment, your tickets must be resale eligible per their seller handbook. If your tickets are resale ineligible, exclude your listing from their site by adding NOAUTO to the internal notes field.

Listing accuracy is required — Your tickets must be listed exactly as they appear in your account. For example, if your tickets show as section "SEC10," list them as "SEC10" — not "10" or "Section 10."

Masking rows or seats is not permitted — If you mask your seats, the barcode validation will fail. For example, if you listed row 10 but provided barcodes for row 9, the order cannot be fulfilled.

Barcode delivery only — no direct transfer or transferless delivery — Barcode-integrated marketplaces will not accept alternative delivery methods. If you cannot deliver via barcodes, your tickets cannot be sold on those marketplaces.

SRO tickets cannot be sold through Lysted — Due to inconsistency around transferability and team restrictions, SRO tickets are not permitted for the current MLB season.

Offsite and third-party parking passes are not allowed on barcode-integrated exchanges — Marketplaces will not accept PDFs or links for parking (e.g. ParkWhiz) due to their MLB agreement, and orders will be cancelled with penalties.

Group and discounted tickets are not permitted — Due to a consistent pattern of these tickets being restricted from resale, group buys and discounted tickets may not be sold through Lysted. Penalties will apply to all broken orders.

Secondary market purchases — We do not recommend listing tickets purchased on a non-barcode integrated secondary market on barcode-integrated sites. There is no way to guarantee these tickets are resale eligible since they didn't go through barcode verification at the time of purchase.

If you want to mask seats, sell third-party parking passes, or are not comfortable providing account credentials, you will need to restrict your listings to transfer-enabled sites only (GoTickets and Automatiq B2B) by adding +go +auto +geek +tnet to the internal notes field in your Lysted inventory tab.

Note: Posting tickets in violation of these policies will result in your account being referred to our compliance department for review.
