Inventory holds are a common occurrence. Below, we outline the main reasons for holds, how to resolve them, and what to expect during the process.
Common Reasons for Inventory Holds
1. Marketplace Holds
Marketplaces may place holds for potential sales. These holds cannot be manually removed by Lysted and must be resolved by the exchange. If the hold exceeds 15 minutes, please reach out to our support team so we can contact the marketplace that has placed your tickets on hold to review further.
2. Policy Related Holds
Holds may occur to uphold our platform's policies, such as restrictions on speculative listings, charity tickets, tickets where the primary is an unsupported third-party app, etc. Listings must comply with policies in order for the hold to be removed. Please reach out to our support team to review if the hold is eligible for removal. We may require proof of purchase + proof the tickets are valid to remove the hold. Providing proof in your initial reach out can help speed up the process.
3. Cancelled Order Holds
Holds may indicate that a sale that has been cancelled, resulting in the tickets being placed back into your inventory to resell. To verify if the tickets on hold in your inventory were from a cancelled sale, navigate to your sales archive page in Lysted to check if there are any sales matching the event, section, row, and seats of the tickets on hold. Note: To find your sales archive page in Lysted, navigate to your sales tab > then click the box icon on the top right side of the page.
Steps to Resolve Inventory Holds
Identify the Cause - Check if the hold is due to a cancelled order. If not, reach out to our support team to verify if the hold was placed on the marketplace end for a sale or on our end due to a policy issue.
Take Corrective Action - Holds are unable to released on the seller's end. If your tickets are on hold for over 15 minutes, we recommend reaching out to our support team asap for review.
What to Expect
Holds placed by marketplaces may take time to resolve, as they depend on the platform's internal processes. Generally, marketplaces either drop the hold or process the sale shortly after the initial hold. However, Lysted cannot provide a guaranteed timeframe for resolution. If the hold exceeds 15 minutes we are happy to reach out to the marketplace to review further.
Holds placed internally are indefinite. Reach out to our support team to review and drop the hold if eligible.
FAQs
Can Lysted manually remove holds?
Lysted can remove cancelled order holds and policy holds. We may require proof of purchase, and additional documentation depending on the reason for the hold. We do not manually remove holds placed by marketplaces like Ticketmaster, for example. These holds are designed to protect ticket security and prevent double sales.
What are common policy restrictions that result in tickets being put on hold?
Speculative listings: If we have reason to believe your tickets are fraudulent and/or you are not in possession of the tickets listed, we may place your tickets on hold. All tickets must be in your possession and listed with accurate, specific details at the time of posting. You will need to provide proof of purchase for your tickets in order for the holds to be removed.
Charity tickets: Charity tickets are restricted due to high cancellation rates. Additionally, most marketplaces will not allow these tickets to be resold. As a result, these tickets cannot be sold on the platform.
Free tickets: We do not allow the sale of free tickets on our platform. It is against every resale market's policy to resell free tickets.
Student tickets: Student tickets are restricted due to high cancellation rates. These types of tickets may require the buyer to show a student ID to gain entry to the event.
Unsupported third-party platforms: Any third-party app that requires the buyer to create a separate account or provide additional information, such as a phone number, in order to receive their tickets is not allowed on Lysted. This is due to how difficult it can be to get a hold of the buyer to inform them there are extra steps that need to be taken to receive their tickets. This often leads to cancelled sales. Restricted platforms include: DICE.fm, TodayTix, Ravina, Gigs and Tours, KYD Labs, Lords (cricket), SeeTickets (transfer-exclusive events).
Nominative Events / Events Requiring Personalization or Additional Customer Details: We do not support the listing of tickets that require personalization or additional customer emails to transfer tickets or for PDFs. This includes any tickets that require attendees to provide their full names, emails, birthdays, etc. It is the seller’s responsibility to know whether an event requires this information prior to listing the tickets for sale.
Please review our Policy for Listing and Fulfillment article for a full list of restricted listings and events.
